Vermont 100 Service Requirement
Must Be Submitted by June 15!
In order to enter EITHER DISTANCE (100 Mile or 100 K) you must either volunteer a minimum of eight (8) hours at a qualifying ultra event or program between May 1, 2014 and June 15, 2015 OR pay the $150 Buy-Out fee. Any official ultra event with a distance of 50 K or longer is always acceptable. You do not need to check with us.
The Race Director will generally approve time volunteered at one shorter race or a series of shorter races as long as the 8 hours can be met. Also generally approved, is time volunteered at youth running programs or school running clubs/teams, time volunteered directly to a program promoting or providing athletic access or support to people with disabilities or time volunteered to trail maintenance for any local state or national trail system that encourages public recreation. To gain approval for one of these alternate volunteer activities, or to arrange to volunteer directly for the VT 100 please e-mail the Race Director at email@example.com
If you choose not to volunteer or you are too busy or there are no events near you, your other option is to pay the $150 Buy-out fee. If the fee is paid, no volunteer hours are required. The fee can be paid on-line during registration, later on this site, or by mailing in a check with your name and Buy-Out fee on it to PO Box 612, Brownsville, VT 05037. $100 of the Buy-Out fee is refundable if you withdraw by June 1, 2015.
DO NOT FORGET you will need to complete your Service Requirement and get the form to us by June 15th, 2015.
If we do not receive your Service Requirement Form or your Buy-Out fee by the deadline, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RUN.
If you registered for the VT100 as a guest, then you will have trouble getting into your registration information. You'll need to go back to your confirmation email (from when you registered) and there should be a link there to access your VT100 registration info. If you can't find that email, the Race Director will resend it to you from Runreg.com. Email Amy at firstname.lastname@example.org
Once you've access your personal registration page, you can:
- input your service information (once completed) until June 15th
- update your 50 mile qualifier (if you're running the 100-mile race) until June 1st
- update your 'solo runner' status until July 1st
In order to compete in the 100 MILE event you must have completed a 50 mile qualifying race in 12 hours or less. Your 50 Mile or 100 K qualifying race must have been completed between July 1, 2012 and June 1, 2015.
If you have completed a 100 Mile race in 30 hours or less between July 1, 2009 and June 1, 2015 you do not need an additional 50 mile qualifying race.
If you have not submitted your qualifying races Name, Date and Time by June 1, 2015 YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RUN.
There is no distance qualification for the 100 K event.
The VT 100 Endurance Race will offer a partial entry refund of $100 until June 1, 2015 to a registered entrant who has paid in full, who e-mails the Race Director at email@example.com to officially withdraw their entry and ask for the refund. We will not be deferring entries to the next years event. Additionally, a participant who pays the Buy-Out fee who officially withdraws by June 1, 2014 can be refunded $100 of that fee as well.
The Vermont 100 Endurance Race is one of the original 100 mile runs in the USA and a part of the Grand Slam Series of Ultrarunning. Each year, 300 runners attempt to finish this hilly race over beautiful Vermont back roads and trails under the 30 hour cutoff point, and a well-trained few finish in under 24 hours. The race proceeds support Vermont Adaptive.
